West Shore Luncheon Mission Project Report 2020
The residents of West Shore Apartments have been provided with a luncheon the second Wednesday of every month. This mission began in November of 2011 and continues through 2020. The residents enjoy a meal and socialization. A close relationship has developed between the committee that plans, cooks and serves the meal, and the residents.
Average attendance 12-20. We often deliver leftovers to members and friends of the church.
Due to the COVID restrictions, the luncheon had to make adjustments. For several months meeting in person was not allowed.
For the month of April the committee purchased small pots of spring flowers and with the help of Steve, the manager of the West Shore apartments, dropped them off to every apartment. A small card was placed on a stick in each plant.
In May the committee gathered and social distanced to write thinking of you cards to all the residents. Bill Smith donated his handmade cards and the committee wrote personal notes to each resident.
The following months we began a pick-up luncheon where residents signed up for a specific time and picked up their lunch from the community room of the apartments. Some meals were delivered to residents.
Committee: Barb Gray, Cyndy Rooker, Jeanette Bates, Debbie Dennis, Pat Rudney, Pastor Mary Anderson, JoAnn Griffith. In addition to the committee, several other members of our congregation have helped out providing food and serving.
