BOARD OF DEACONS-2019
We are sharing God with our parishioners through Sunday morning welcoming, refreshment time, Monthly parish list updates, cards, calls and visits to shut-ins as well as rides for those in need.
We started out the year with a mission/suggestion from Chris Grudzien for filling boxes with personal hygiene products for the Cayuga county drug coalition. As is usual for our congregation, the response was quick and very generous and we were able to pass on several boxes filled with shampoos, deodorants, razors, toothpaste, etc. for those who are unable to afford them.
The Deacons also were in charge of the funeral receptions for Cliff Hickok as well as Sue Jones, providing desserts and beverage, much of which was donated by the congregation.
In June we celebrated the graduations of Jacob Hickok, Dylan Leubner and Sara Kwietniak with a cake reception after church.
In August one our Deacons resigned for personal reasons.
We continued our successful and generous Christmas gift giving mission in conjunction with the Salvation Army Christmas Angel program. The turn around was very quick and the wishes were a bit more expensive than past years, but once again the congregation was very generous.
We had our ice cream social in August at Evergreen Heights as well as the Christmas cookie decorating and hymns in December. Both are always well received and the residents are so appreciative.
There were no takers for open Deacon positions this coming year. Several of us have done 6 years, but once a Deacon always a Deacon. Some of us are on the back burner so to speak, but will step up when needed-sending cards, visiting, providing meals, helping with church functions, etc. We look forward to serving this coming year and always.
